Good day, lovely readers. I wish to welcome you all once again to read another informative post that is centered on striking a balance between saving money and buying the foods and groceries you need. Cutting your foods and groceries bills by half is not an easy task, especially if you have a big family. So, in this video, I am hoping to share some of the tips I believe will be very helpful in striking that much-needed balance between buying quality foods and groceries, and saving up as much as you can. Check out my other blogs such as, “Top Ten Unusual Ways To Save Money“.

Sometimes, the problem is not the quality of foods and groceries you want to buy for your active family, but a case of buying more than what you wanted to buy. Imagine going to a grocery store to buy only milk, and then you end up buying a full cart of foods and groceries. This is obviously more than what you budgeted, but some people just can’t help it.

So, below are saving money tips you might need:

You need to have a budget:

You need to have a budget whenever you want to go shopping, no matter what you want to buy. This goes for food and grocery shopping. The major reason people buy what they did not plan is the fact that they do not have a budget. I would suggest that you make the budget, take the exact amount for that or a little more, and make sure you buy only things that are in the budget. The only exception should be buying something essential.

You need to have a meal plan:

Having a meal plan is not rocket science. It merely means drawing a schedule of what you want to eat for some time, say a day, week, or month. It may be a little difficult to draw a meal plan for a whole year because it might be more challenging to stick to it. So, after making a budget and doing the shopping, a meal plan should be your next step. That way, you can always have control over what you and your family eat, and make sure you are not shopping earlier than you need to.

You need to try to avoid wastage:

Speaking from experience, this particular tip has helped me a lot in cutting down my foods and grocery expenses. Whenever I want to prepare meals, I always look through all the cupboards and fridges looking for what might have been left over, which may still be useful. I found out that these valuable leftovers might have been bought if I did not scan through, so it is safe to say they save some costs sometimes.

Try switching diets and always take advantage of promos:

Some groceries offer promos on some of their products. These promos come with a slash at the prices of items. It would be good practice to take advantage of some of these promos and get as much as you can, store them, and use them in making your meal plans. Switching diets is another way of saving money.

For instance, you are choosing to go vegan and eat more veggies and fruits for some days, thereby saving some money from the purchase of meats and dairy products. It also has the added advantage of providing you with varieties in the meal plan. You can even alternate between fresh and frozen foods.

You can bulk-make your meals:

This idea is excellent as long as there are plans for preservation. Doing this not only you are saving money, but it also saves you some time and energy. You can also use slow cookers to help you do most of the work. Sometimes, I throw in some chops of meats and veggies, allow them to boil, add my ingredients, and I am ready to go. I would suggest you try it sometime.

Having shared my ideas on ways to keep the budget low during foods and grocery shopping, I am sure you must have picked up a few points. If you did, please don’t forget to share this video, like and subscribe to our channel, and drop your views and comments.

Saving money is all about the game plan and a little more discipline. Before going to get anything in a food and grocery store, draw up a plan of what you want or do not want, and keep yourself from straying away from the plan. You can also repeat those meals that keep your budget low, and your family happy. Remember, it’s the little habits that usually make the difference.
